Veteran shares darkest moments of his life in ‘Twisted Wisdom’

Lance D. Farmer pens poetry collection that bares dark secrets of traumatized mind

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – With a collection of elaborate and intriguing poems, Lance D. Farmer’s book titled “Twisted Wisdom” (published by Xlibris) bares and untangles the dark roots of a traumatized mind. Farmer’s journey through rehabilitation and therapy from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other emotional disorders has inspired him to share to other people that this experience is nothing to be afraid or ashamed of and to find the inner strength to improve one’s life from a dark void.

Farmer expresses that his poems are a reflection of his most intimate places, showing his uprising from the blackest despair into the light of hope. He was diagnosed with emotional disorders after his service in the US Navy. With this experience, the tragic events that he has witnessed have produced many dark demons in his mind and soul. However, “I, like many others, am seeking help to understand them, fix them, or live with them to improve my life,” the author explains.

“Twisted Wisdom” reaches to the readers, afflicted with PTSD or not, to know that “[you] are not alone in your struggles. Other people have been to those places where you go in your mind.” Ultimately, this poetry collection offers for readers to “find a piece of yourself among these pages.”

Farmer evaluates his experience in “Twisted Wisdom:” “If you’ve searched within yourself, seeking to find an answer, and don’t find it. It’s probably where you didn’t want to look.”
