Hatch Praises Senate Passage of Bipartisan Trade Bill

WASHINGTON – Lawmakers passed the Bipartisan Congressional Trade Priorities & Accountability Act (TPA 2015) on Wednesday. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), who authored the bill along with Finance Committee Ranking Member Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), noted that Washington had not acted on trade policy of this magnitude in nearly 15 years. “The Senate took historic action and delivered a strong win for the American people and the future of the nation’s economy,” he said. “This bipartisan legislation meets the demands of the 21st-century global economy. It empowers Congress and the American people with a strong voice in international trade negotiations, maximizes dialogue among stakeholders, and helps secure high-standard trade pacts that will benefit American workers and job creators."
The bill, which has been supported by job creators throughout Utah, passed 60-38.
