OCTOBER 25, 2017 - AUSTIN, TX - The Cuckoos have signed a distribution deal with Republic of Music following the success of their self-titled debut EP, released in April 2017. "Republic of Music are delighted to be working with The Cuckoos," explains Mark McQuillan, Managing Director at Republic of Music. "As soon as I heard their excellent EP I knew it was a band we could work with and help build their profile. Great tunes and real promise." Through Republic of Music, the band will be re-releasing their aforementioned EP, featuring a new song "A Little Bit Funky", on 11/24. With the release of their self-titled debut EP, The Cuckoos garnered praise for their ability to bring back the sounds of the 1960s through their original songs. Relix Magazine championed the album, writing, "It builds on the band's captivating blend of genres, evoking the 1960s through a contemporary lens." Glide Magazine also likened the "rock and roll magic being conjured" by The Cuckoos to "The Doors, Joy Division and Rick James writing songs with Tame Impala," while Pancakes And Whiskey lauded the band's classic, yet modern sound by writing, "Immediately after pressing play we are transported to another time, and possibly another dimension." Similarly, Classic Rock Magazine christened The Cuckoos' psychedelic garage rock "spectacular," declaring the band "hip young dudes who mine the late sixties acid rock scene for inspiration, but sound so authentic you'll think you're having a flashback."

Following its release, the EP hit #53 on NACC Radio 200, #13 on NACC Radio 200 Adds and #34 on FMQB Alt Spec Albums. The success of the EP also helped make possible a two-week tour of the UK, a show in New York City and their first-ever Mexico dates taking place this upcoming December.

The Cuckoos were formed in 2014 by lead vocalist/keyboardist, Kenneth Frost, and lead guitarist/backing vocalist, Dave North. To flesh out their lineup, North introduced Frost to a pair of his longtime friends, including powerhouse drummer Cole Koenning and bassist Eric Ross. Together, despite their young ages, the four musicians have quickly amassed a body of work that evokes a nostalgic classic-rock sound, yet remains fresh and innovative.

In their short time as a band, The Cuckoos have earned a number of accolades, including #1 Psychedelic Band to See Live by Classic Rock Magazine (Pink Floyd Issue), and #1 Emerging Psychedelic Band by The Deli Austin in 2015. "We just want to make music that makes people feel good and feel bad," Frost explains. "We just want them to feel something; something that's passionate and honest."

National “Choices in Education” Video Contest Invites Families to Share Their Stories

A dozen national partners join effort to celebrate educational opportunity

Today, a dozen national partners launched the “Choices in Education” video contest at www.ChoicesInEd.org. The contest provides the families and students who have experienced the power of educational freedom with a forum for sharing their life-changing stories.

Over the next month, students, parents and alumni of educational choice programs across the country are encouraged to submit a short video about how their choice has made a difference in their lives, and why access to more educational opportunity in their state can benefit students and families with the right educational fit.

“Millions of students across the country benefit from being able to choose the learning environment that best fits their needs – whether that is a traditional public school, charter school, magnet school, private school, blended and virtual learning or homeschool," said Patricia Levesque, ExcelinEd CEO. "The Choices in Education video contest is a chance for the real experts on education to share their stories on the life-changing benefits of educational opportunity.”

Entering is simple. All participants need are a smartphone, a few minutes and a great story to share. Video submissions, which can feature students or families, will be accepted from Oct. 25 through
Dec. 1.

A panel of judges from national organizations representing a broad spectrum of educational choice options will select the grand prize winners and runners-up. Three grand prize winners will receive $15,000 each, with three runners-up awarded $5,000 each.

Additionally, two people’s choice winners will be chosen from among 15 finalists through public voting in December.

Winners will be announced during National School Choice Week, Jan. 22-26, 2018.

ExcelinEd has teamed up with the nation’s leading education groups on this video competition, including American Federation for Children, Agudath Israel, Center for Education Reform, Classical Conversations, Democrats for Education Reform, EdChoice, Foundation for Blended and Online Learning, Goldwater Institute, National Alliance for Public Charter Schools, School Choice Week and the State Policy Network.

For more information on the Choices in Education video contest and to submit videos, visit www.ChoicesInEd.org.

Today they are thrilled to be premiering it in full exclusively on Metal Injection, here: https://goo.gl/4DDM8n. SLEEP, the band's debut EP with Equal Vision Records, was produced by Tim McTague (Underoath) and can be pre-ordered now at limbs.lnk.to/sleep.

On the EP, the band shares: "We got a chance with this EP to really sit down and do the songs we had more justice. We're so used to self recording/producing. It was refreshing to get other people involved on the creative level to both help us get closer to what we wanted sonically, as well as open us to new ideas and new ways of looking at songwriting."

LIMBS is Chris Costanza (vocals), Daniel Nelson (drums), Joshua Kowalski (bass), Jordan Hunter (guitar), and Tyler Martin (guitar). The band debuted with their EP, Admission, in late 2014, to copious amounts of positive feedback.

In 2015, LIMBS toured the DIY circuits relentlessly, and released two independent singles. LIMBS ventured out on an east coast tour with Saosin in 2016, and also performed at the South By So What?! Music Festival in Dallas, Texas. That year they also recorded 3 songs (now re-recorded on the upcoming EP, SLEEP), which were mixed by Beau Burchell (Saosin) and mastered by Mike Kalajian.

In 2017 the band joined up with Royal Division Entertainment for management, and soon set out to support Envy on the Coast on select dates in the southeast. Following that, the band trekked across the country supporting Hail The Sun on their nationwide headliner.
