Candidates for the State School Board May be Elected Directly

Representative Jim Nielson has introduced legislation to allow for direct elections for State School Board members.  Currently, a committee picked by the governor recommends individuals for each open State School Board position. The Governor then selects the candidates that would be put on the ballot. Nielson’s bill would take the candidate selection duty away from the governor and have it originate directly with the people.
