Venture Academy is a charter school in Marriott-Slaterville for grades kindergarten through eighth.  It is a fairly new school in the area, but it has been growing by leaps and bounds and has recently started construction on a new High School. Venture High is set to open in the fall of 2013, but has already started accepting students through its lottery program – which means students will enroll, and if their name is drawn, they will be accepted. It will open new grades in a staggered program – next year will be ninth and tenth grades, and in 2014, eleventh and twelfth grades will be added.  Currently, they have a short waiting list for ninth and tenth graders, and no wait for eleventh grade. If your student is interested in attending, they can find out more information and enroll in the lottery system at VentureHigh.org.

Charter schools differ from public schools in the fact that they have more freedom with their curriculum, usually have smaller class sizes, and most have a focus, like technology or character, arts, or sciences. Venture Academy and Venture High focus on in-depth academic content, real world projects, team-oriented activities, engaging, active teaching, and community service. Their mission statement is: The mission of Venture Academy is to inspire the rising generation to reach the heights of their potential, ignite their curiosity to venture into challenging new learning experiences, and through service, empower them to be leaders who are committed to family and community.  Then they can achieve their dreams and shape their world.
