Recycling

Just a reminder, only the following items are recyclable: #1 (pete) and #2 (hope) plastics (milk cartons, soda bottles, grocery bags, most plastic cleaning fluid containers), clean cardboard and paper (remove wax or foil liners), and household aluminum and steel (tin foil, food cans, clothes hangers, steel nuts and bolts). Grass clippings are not recyclable. For yard waste, please use our green waste facility located at 2800 N. 5100 W.

November - March    (Winter Hours)

Hours: 2nd and 4th   Saturday from 8 am to 3 pm

The landfill is open to all Plain City residents. The materials allowed in the landfill generally fall into the categories of construction waste or yard waste (green waste). During the summer months residents generate large amounts of green yard waste that should be placed in the landfill and not into garbage collection waste containers. Waste collection is paid for by the City by weight collected; so green waste placed in the landfill is not charged to the City (and every resident). Please take advantage of the landfill for your yard and garden waste and do not place those materials in the garbage collection containers.

Acceptable Waste:   Any yard waste, building demolitions, metals.

Prohibited:   Carpeting, petroleum based products, chemicals/paint, household garbage

Open Burning Information

ALL BURNING MUST BE DONE IN DAYLIGHT HOURS

Civil Defense

The American Civil Defense Association works to prepare Americans for natural and manmade disasters. They provide literature and monthly training classes on how to prepare for most any disaster scenario. For more information, visit www.tacda.org  , info@tacda.org  , or call (800) 425-5397.

Landscaping

If you are receiving delivery of landscaping material, please make sure that it is not placed in the road. Our ordinance prohibits this for two reasons, public safety and to protect downstream receiving waters from silt and debris when the material enters the storm drain.
