DENVER—In response to today’s announcement that President Trump is donating his first quarter salary to the National Park Service, the Center for Western Priorities released the following statement from Deputy Director Greg Zimmerman:

“President Trump and Secretary Zinke should be embarrassed by today’s publicity stunt. You can’t propose $1.6 billion in cuts to our public lands, then pretend a $78,000 donation makes it better. The White House needs to protect America’s parks and public lands, not pay lip service to them.”

TARA WILLIAMSON

PREMIERES NEW SINGLE

"MESSENGER"

WITH THE VINYL DISTRICT

LISTEN HERE.

DEBUT EP, EVOLUTION ONE, DUE OUT 4/28

APRIL 4, 2017 - AUSTIN, TX - Singer-songwriter, Tara Williamson, is premiering her new single, "Messenger", exclusively today with The Vinyl District. Listen HERE. "'Messenger' is a delightful mixture of old west and indie-pop," The Vinyl District notes. "If this track is any indication, Evolution One is bound to be a substantial debut for the burgeoning artist." "Messenger" is the first single from Williamson's forthcoming debut EP, Evolution One, due out 4/28. For more information on Tara Williamson, please visit: https://www.tarawilliamson.com/.

Evolution One is the first EP from Williamson's upcoming four-part album, Evolutions. As her first solo effort since branching out from soul band, The Nightowls, Evolution One represents the unique sense of community found in the Austin music scene. "Everyone came together to make this album happen," Williamson explains. "The finished product really goes to show that Austin is a special place with a genuinely loving community."

Although Williamson grew up in a musical family, she lacked the industry resources needed to take her music to the next level while living in her small hometown of Cottonwood, CA. It wasn't until 2012 that Tara found herself in Austin, following the allure of the legendary music scene.

It was here that she landed a backup vocalist position with the aforementioned The Nightowls (ACL Festival 2014, 2015, SXSW 2015, 2016, two national tours). For over three years, she performed coast to coast as the band steadily rose from local to national fame.

When it came time to record her solo material, Williamson wanted it to feel like a community project. She looked to many local musicians for inspiration both in writing and performance style. For her, it was important to recognize, include, and pay homage to the uniqueness of Austin's musical community, in part, because it's precisely what made the music possible.

"Messenger" is the first release from Tara Williamson's debut EP, Evolution One, due out 4/28.

5th STEP Ahead Awards Recognize Women for Excellence in Manufacturing

The Manufacturing Institute Will Honor Madisen Dahl, Marketing and Recruiting Specialist at JD Machine

NORTH OGDEN, April 5, 2017: The Manufacturing Institute announced they will award MADISEN DAHL with the Women in Manufacturing STEP (Science, Technology, Engineering and Production) Ahead Award. The STEP Ahead Awards honor women who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in their careers and represent all levels of the manufacturing industry, from the factory-floor to the C suite.

“It is an honor to be recognized by the National Manufacturing Institute. I am passionate about keeping the American Dream alive – continuing the manufacturing legacy of my parents and grandparents, by building a workforce full of brilliant creators and innovators. It’s a privilege to spend time in a lean manufacturing environment where the impossible is accomplished on a daily basis."

“These women exemplify the path an exciting career in manufacturing can take,” said Heidi Alderman, 2017 Chair of STEP Ahead and Senior Vice President of Intermediates North America, BASF Corporation. "STEP Ahead recognizes women nationwide for their significant achievements to the field of manufacturing, and the positive impact on their companies and the industry as a whole."

The STEP Ahead Awards are part of the larger STEP Ahead initiative, launched to examine and promote the role of women in the manufacturing industry through recognition, research, and leadership for attracting, advancing, and retaining strong female talent.

A recent survey from Deloitte and The Manufacturing Institute found that six out of ten open skilled production positions are unfilled due to the talent shortage. Closing the skills gap means closing the gender gap.

On April 20, The Manufacturing Institute will recognize 130 recipients of the STEP Ahead Awards at a reception in Washington, D.C. The STEP Ahead Awards program will highlight each honoree’s story, including their leadership and accomplishments in manufacturing.
