Hatch Reacts to King v. Burwell Oral Arguments

Washington, D.C.— Senator Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, member and former chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, issued the following statement after attending the oral argument for the King v. Burwell Obamacare subsidy case at the Supreme Court.

"After watching the oral argument this morning, I remain convinced that the administration acted unlawfully. The Obamacare law clearly states that tax credits are available only to people who buy health insurance on a state-created exchange.  The President may not like that, but he has no authority to create a different statute through an IRS regulation.  Only Congress has the power to legislate. I hope the Supreme Court will interpret Obamacare as Congress wrote it and strike down the President's latest attempt to bypass Congress."

Last month Senator Hatch spoke at the Heritage Foundation about King v. Burwell. You can find the full text of that speech here
