Governor commends Greg Sheehan for appointment to United States Fish and Wildlife Service

SALT LAKE CITY (June 5, 2017) – U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke today announced the appointment of Utah’s Greg Sheehan as the deputy director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Prior to his appointment, Sheehan served as director of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.

Gov. Herbert released the following statement:

“Greg has been a tremendous asset to the state of Utah for more than 25 years. Under his leadership Utah has led the nation in wildlife management, restoration and conservation. Greg is dedicated to the land he loves, and he leaves behind a significantly stronger Division of Wildlife Resources.”

Sheehan will begin his new role in mid-June, and will serve as the acting director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service until a director is nominated by President Trump and confirmed by the United States Senate. The Department of the Interior’s announcement can be found here. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources’ release will be archived here.
