Progress: Old Smith's Building Coming Down

Crossroads at North Ogden economic development project moving forward! New facade for shops is looking great!

Coming Soon: ACE Hardware (Summer 2017)
In the Old Smith's Building

After years of work, I am pleased to announce that a deal has been signed for the old Smith’s building: the building will be torn down starting next week, and a beautiful, brand new building will be constructed in its place (demolition begins Friday Dec 2nd at 2:30). The new building will house a large Ace Hardware store plus additional stores to be announced in the future. Approximately half the space of ...the current building will be converted into parking, as the Smith’s Marketplace is doing so well they are concerned about having enough parking (see site plan for more details). This project has been a major effort and has involved many members of our city team. Special thanks to our City Planner Rob Scott and the City Council who approved a Re-Development Agency investment to stimulate the re-development to occur. I have personally spent hundreds of hours on this project with three different sets of potential developers over the past 2 years, and am proud to see this moving forward. ACE Hardware will be a perfect fit for our city, and we are working on other great tenants for the remainder of the space in the new building. This development will bring additional sales taxes to our city, will fill an empty building, and means our citizens can shop for more items right here close to home.

The main entrance of the Ace will face south—towards the Smith’s Marketplace, but they will also make the east side (along the new entrance off 2600 N.) look and feel like a "front" side with an entrance as well. See pictures for more details. Construction is expected to begin early next year (weather dependent) and last until late Summer 2017. Welcome ACE Hardware!
