North Ogden September Updates

Friday, September 6, 2019 - 12:15pm

Quick note from Mayor Chugg:

We will be celebrating Labor Day the first Monday in September, which is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of the American worker. It is a tribute to the workers who have contributed to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. It also marks the end of summer vacations and activities.

On this Labor Day, I would like to pay tribute to the great employees in our City. We appreciate the great recorders and administrative assistants throughout the city departments who keep us on task and assist us in numerous ways. Their cheerful attitudes always brighten our day. We recognize our City Manager who oversees the operation of the city and makes sure all the functions of the city are operating efficiently. We recognize our planning and building departments who handle difficult assignments and maintain the quality of our neighborhoods.

We have a great financial staff that monitors our finances and makes sure our tax dollars are spent wisely and in the best interest of our citizens. Our Parks and Recreation department maintains the beautiful parks in our city that provide recreational opportunities for our youth and a place for family activities. They take care of the beautiful flowers that adorn the entrance to our city.

Our Police department is one of the finest in the area. The dedicated officers are constantly on call to protect and assist us in emergency situations. They sacrifice much in monitoring our city twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week.

Our Public Works department is there to assure our comfort and daily well-being. They provide an array of services that sometimes we take for granted. You have water when you turn on your tap, you have sewer facilities to take away waste, garbage collection, monitoring storm water when it rains or there are heavy snows so that it is contained and moved out of our neighborhoods. We have a street department to maintain our streets for safe travel throughout the city summer and winter. We have a skilled maintenance staff that makes sure all our equipment is operating efficiently.

We as citizens appreciate these dedicated employees and I encourage everyone to express your appreciation as you have the opportunity to visit with them.

Mayor Chugg

The City has scheduled the fall Green Waste Pick Up for October 21st – 25th 2019; collection will be on your regular garbage day. The volume of material may however, delay collection. The regulations mentioned below must be followed when placing material out for collection. All materials must be in bags, boxes or containers. Bush clippings and small tree limbs must be bundled and no longer than 5 feet in length. Weight limit is 75 pounds. Place materials in parkways, not in curb or waterways. This is a Green Waste Clean Up Only.

We appreciate citizen participation and encourage your use of the green waste facility. For that reason, the facility will be open for your use at NO CHARGE the entire clean-up week (Monday –Friday) from 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays the 19th and 26th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Photo ID is required. If you have questions contact the Brian Galvez at 782-8111, or emailbgalvez@nogden.org WEATHER PERMITTING The green waste facility will remain open through November 3,2018 on its regular schedule (fees apply).

Casey Matue is employee of the month for September. He is the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan Inspector with Public Works for the last year, and previously was in the water department 2 years prior.
