There have been some great improvements and changes happening in North Ogden; and according to Mayor Taylor, “City leaders have been very productive creating conditions to help existing businesses succeed and to attract new businesses. The sales taxes from higher commercial property businesses are an essential part of the City economy and more businesses means lower residential property taxes and better quality of life as we don’t have to drive as far. We are making full use of the economic development tools available through the City’s Redevelopment Agency (RDA) and Community Development Area (CDA).”
Hug-Hes Café is soon coming to North Ogden. It will be moving into the vacant Winger’s building by Lee’s Market. The Winger’s building has been vacant for nearly a decade and now a popular restaurant, Hug-Hes Café, will be here in the City serving lunch, dinner and desserts. Entrees such as: Spiced Buffalo Wings, Smoked Chicken Pasta Salad, Poached Salmon Salad, Strawberry Cheesecake and more! As part of the project, the building received a full exterior remodel. Hug-Hes is remodeling the interior. It will open its doors November 8.
Crossroads at North Ogden: (The strip mall north of the old Smith’s building). A new developer has come in and fully remodeled and renovated this strip mall. There will be a new roof, modernized roof life, new façade, and a new name, “Crossroads at North Ogden” to match the brand new appearance. Work began in October and is hopefully going to be finished by late November. Several new stores will be introduced as part of the process, including Sports Clips, GNC, and Little Caesar’s store will be renovated as well.

The main library will be closing for renovations November 11th. A free shuttle will be available to transport users from Ogden to the Pleasant Valley Branch in Washington Terrace and the Southwest Branch in Roy.
A new playground will be opening this November at the North Ogden Park. This was a joint effort between North Oden City, North Ogden Elementary School, and Weber R.A.M.P. tax. It will be engaging and fun for younger children with several activities to keep kids active! Check out the North Ogden Facebook page for further updates.
The first two bike lanes in North Ogden’s history have been installed as of October. They are on 1050 East and Elberta Drive. These roads were both wide enough to add the bike lanes without narrowing the vehicle lanes or removing parking. Additional lanes are in the works for the future as well. There has been a new asphalt overlay and chip seal done to these roads by the North Ogden Public Works Department and Parson’s Construction.
Six customized bus stops have been installed in front of IHC at 2300 North. Five more bus stops along Washington Boulevard or 2600 North will follow over the next year. These bus stops are being installed through a cooperative effort between North Ogden City and the Utah Transit Authority (UTA). The UTA is using Proposition 1 sales tax funds to help fund the new stops. Vinyl wrap artwork will be added to increase the beauty of the stops. Watch for more beautification projects to come.
Watch for the progressive marks in the driving lanes leading up to the crosswalks. Their purpose is to alert drivers of the upcoming crosswalks in some of our busiest areas. You don’t need to do anything different with these crosswalks—please just watch for pedestrians!.
