In an interview with CMRubinWorld, Santiago Rincon-Gallardo says Globalization “exacerbated the expansion of poverty and inequality, the spread of fundamentalism and violence, global migration, and the erosion of democracies.” The situation makes lie it “urgent to pursue social justice” so as to give youth “a fighting chance to survive, save humanity, and sustain life in the planet.”
Santiago’s work, discussed in a new book, Future Directions of Educational Change (edited by Helen Janc Malone, Santiago Rincón-Gallardo, and Kristin Kew; Routledge, 2018), explores how pedagogies for deep learning can spread at scale. He is the chief research officer on Michael Fullan’s education consulting team and a visiting scholar at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto.

Make the Season Merry and Bright for Military Children
Dollar Tree Customers Set to Once Again Bring Holiday Joy to Thousands of Military Kids
Operation Homefront and Dollar Tree Inc. (NASDAQ: DLTR) will once again join forces this year to make the holidays brighter for our military families with the nonprofit’s Holiday Toy Drive. For the 11th consecutive year, Dollar Tree customers can purchase toys for military kids, easing the financial burdens that often accompany the holiday season for junior- and mid-grade (E1-E6) service members and their families.
Dollar Tree stores will have collection boxes available in which shoppers place their purchased toys, knowing they will be delivered to the children of our men and women in uniform. Utah Connections Academy Participating in "Hip Hop for The Homeless" Event to Collect Donations for Homeless
WHO: Student Allexis Bonacci and Utah Connections Academy, an online, tuition-free public school serving more than 1,100 students
WHAT: For the past three years, Utah Connections Academy has participated in a clothing drive for the Road Home Homeless shelter that student Allexis Bonacci has helped organize with her family for 15 years. It aims to collect clothing, blankets, stuffed animals, food and money for the homeless shelter so it can help those in need during the upcoming winter season. Previously the drive has collected and filled multiple 33-foot trailers with hundreds of thousands of items.
