GlobalSim Joins Utah Governor Herbert on a Trade Mission in Jordan and Israel

Jonathan McCurdy, President and CEO of GlobalSim, had the opportunity to join Gary Herbert, Governor of Utah, for a trade mission in Jordan and Israel.

SANDY, UTAH, UNITED STATES, November 6, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- GlobalSim, Inc. has a long reputation in the field of simulation. Beyond crane simulators, GlobalSim has worked on projects with governments, defense contractors and multi-national corporations.

Last week, Jonathan McCurdy, President and CEO of GlobalSim, had the opportunity to join Gary Herbert, Governor of Utah, along with the directors from 40 different companies in Utah for a trade mission in Jordan and Israel.

The trade mission was an excellent opportunity for all parties to expand Utah’s economic development in the Middle East. One of the scheduled visits, was a trip to the Port of Ashdod – one of Israel’s two main cargo ports, also home to one of Globalsim’s premium simulators. McCurdy showcased the simulator where Gov. Herbert and Utah directors experimented with the simulator.

The visit to Jordan and Israel also allowed GlobalSim to connect with important executives looking to provide simulation solutions in the region. “We have long had a global footprint and we look forward to doing more business in Israel and the Middle East” remarked McCurdy.

GlobalSim looks forward to any future collaborative trade missions.

• Power of Money

Can the promise of cash encourage children with diabetes to monitor their blood-glucose levels daily? A new study says yes. Researchers found that using money and accessible monitoring tools such as wireless glucometers and apps can motivate young people to be more active in managing their condition. A trial at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania showed that financial incentives contributed to a 50 percent monitoring rate compared to less than 20 percent for a group that received no cash. • Secret to Higher Test Scores

When teachers are empowered to help lead their schools and to have a role in designing instruction, one of the benefits is higher student performance on state tests. After studying data from nearly 1 million teachers, Richard Ingersoll of the Graduate School of Education of the University of Pennsylvania told Education Week, "They know the kids, and it's better when teachers have a voice in the culture of the place and some sense of ownership.” (media contact: Louisa Shepard, lshepard@upenn.edu)

• Obesity and Breast Feeding

Two or three days after birth, women begin to secrete copious amounts of milk in a process called lactogenesis 2. A new study shows that women who are obese before becoming pregnant or who gain excessive weight during pregnancy are at risk of delayed lactogenesis 2, underscoring a need for “support to help these women achieve their personal breast feeding goals,” according to a study from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. THE EDUCATION, WORKFORCE AND APPRENTICESHIP TAX CREDIT ACT
Will Encourage Job Creation and Job Preparation

Washington, D.C. - Jeanne Allen, Founder and CEO of the Center for Education Reform released the following statement regarding the proposed Federal Tax Reform Package:

As part of tax reform, there is an urgent need to ensure the preparation of current and future workers for the changing needs of the U.S. economy. Job creation and job preparation must go hand in hand. The only area of the current House tax package that addresses education is an expansion of 529 plans to include qualified K-12 expenses and apprenticeships. That is a laudable step, but it leaves too many Americans out of the equation.

The ability to set aside dollars under a 529 plan simply is not a reality for most Americans. In extending the 529 benefit to families for K-12 expenses and apprenticeships, the House’s tax reform package does not account for the importance of providing meaningful opportunities to Americans – opportunities our education, training and workforce programs have failed to provide – and underscores this stark reality.

We urge Congress to adopt the Education, Workforce and Apprenticeship Tax Credit Act which would encourage charitable donations to nonprofit organizations for community-based apprenticeship initiatives, career and technical education, workforce development, and educational preparedness.  Eligible organizations would include educational institutions, community organizations, training institutes, community colleges, non-profit scholarship granting organizations, and nonprofits affiliated with labor unions and labor-management committees.

These local programs are crucial to the national effort of preparing American workers for jobs. Education is the foundation of success, and it’s a means to that end. With the seriousness in which Washington is now moving toward an economic solution, we must ensure that Americans at all levels have the means to participate in the future.
