Last weekend, VidAngel Studios offered its very first theatrical title in limited release, TIM TIMMERMAN, HOPE OF AMERICA. Endorsements and rave reviews from key organizations, a strong turnout by VidAngel fans, and enthusiastic responses from audiences contributed to the film’s strong showing at the box office. TIMMERMAN boasted a per screen average of $4,095, putting the independent film at #2, right behind #1 20th Century Fox Film LOGAN in the Salt Lake City DMA.

Rated PG-13, TIM TIMMERMAN screened at select Megaplex and Cinemark Theatres throughout Utah initially, and will now be followed by a nationwide expansion.
TIMMERMAN earned strong reviews from The Parents TV Council, The Dove Foundation, Plugged In, Movieguide, and Common Sense Media in addition to a 94% Rotten Tomatoes audience score.
TIM TIMMERMAN is a semi-autobiographical film about Director Cameron Sawyer’s (SHE’S A FOX) experiences as a student body president in Utah in the mid 90’s, and is loosely based on his experience as quite possibly the worst high school student body president in high school history (Orem High, Class of ’95). Test-screening audiences have described the film as “Ferris Bueller meets Napoleon Dynamite.”
The film has received incredible acclaim on the festival circuit, and screened as an Official Selection at the Academy Award®-qualifying Heartland Film Festival, winning Audience Choice for Best Picture at the St. Louis International Film Festival and Audience Choice for Best Comedy at the Woods Hole Film Festival in Cape Cod, among many other accolades. Film Synopsis: Mount Vista High's student-body president Tim Timmerman (Eddie Perino, Disney’s LAB RATS) — class of 1994 — has aspirations of attending Yale and becoming a famous politician. Once elected as president, however, Tim has zero interest in doing any actual work: he simply coasts, believing that his student-body president title rubber stamps his future dreams. When Tim’s laziness and incompetence endanger his dreams, he realizes that a deaf student, Sydney (Chelsea Maidhof), could actually provide the easiest route to glory for Tim - her father’s position as a U.S. senator. Nothing will stop Tim from reaching the top…except himself.

Utah House Stands Up against Unconstitutional Tax
AFP-UT applauds Utah lawmakers that stood up against collecting an internet sales tax
SALT LAKE CITY – Americans for Prosperity-Utah (AFP-UT), reacted to the Utah House of Representative’s Revenue and Tax Committee for striking down SB110, an attempt to unconstitutionally collect an internet sales tax from out of state companies.
Americans for Prosperity-Utah’s state director, Evelyn Everton released the following statement:
“We commend the Representatives in the Rev and Tax committee for leading the charge against the state collecting an unconstitutional tax. Utahns are not out of the woods yet though as two other proposals could still make their way to Governor Herbert’s desk. Should one of these schemes to collect unconstitutional taxes make its way to the governor’s desk, we would implore Governor Herbert to recognize that these proposals could tie up the state in costly litigation.”
Earlier this week, the House pulled the bill from the Revenue and Tax Committee and attempted to push the bill through via a legislative procedural move. AFP-UT sent a direct mail piece to members of the Utah House asking them to oppose the internet sales tax.
