RESPONSE to dismissal of Bundy case

DENVER—Today a federal judge in Las Vegas dismissed the case against Cliven Bundy and two of his sons who led an armed standoff with federal agents over illegal grazing on public lands in 2014. In response, the Center for Western Priorities released the following statement from Executive Director Jennifer Rokala:

“The Bundy family took up arms against the U.S. government, endangering the lives of the men and women who work tirelessly to protect America’s public lands. Letting the Bundys walk free on a technicality should send a chill down the spines of anyone who values our parks, wildlife refuges, and all public lands.

“That an extremist like Bundy could blatantly break the law on national television and walk away scot-free will only embolden his followers who’ve threatened the lives and livelihoods of public land managers across the West.”

Friday, January 12, 2018 at 7:30p.m.  A benefit event for the Egyptian Theatre Foundation.

“We are thrilled to be presenting Pulp Fiction for our first fundraising event of the year.” says Danielle Bendinelli, Vice President of the Egyptian Theater Foundation. “The following we are starting to build with these classic cult films has been great! It allows us to engage with new audiences and gives the public an opportunity to fall in love all over again with such an amazing venue.”

The Egyptian Theater Foundation board focuses on fundraising initiatives for special theater-related projects, including maintenance and preservation of the Mighty Wurlitzer Pipe Organ which will provide pre-show atmosphere during the January 12th event. Campaigning in 2018 to replace the exterior marque, the ETF is looking to attract increased community participation and donations by inviting audiences to come and create their own special memories of Peery’s Egyptian Theater.

Ryan McDonald, Egyptian Theater Foundation Entertainment Chair said he’s been looking to show Pulp Fiction at Peery’s for a few years. “It has everything from gangsters to hitmen to a boxer on the run from his criminal past. The film style is unique to the world of cinema. Tarantino draws from his inspirations in movies and music, and 24 years later he has inspired an entire generation of indie filmmakers. Many films since have tried to compare, but there is only one true Pulp Fiction. And that’s the facts.”

Event tickets are available for $6.50 through Smithtix.com or the Peery’s Egyptian Theater Box Office located at 2415 Washington Blvd in Ogden. Phone: 801-689-8700.

"'Ghosts' stems from a deep relationship I had that lacked physical presence," vocalist and bassist AJ Perdomo says of the new song. "I started to feel like I was speaking to a ghost, or that I had imagined the relationship in my mind. It paints a picture of longing and heartache, but with a burning devotion."

The new music video is in collaboration with Dale Earnhardt Jr., his production company, Hammerhead Entertainment, and director Chris Stanford.  Earnhardt Jr., who is an avid fan of the band shares, "As a fan and friend to the band it was a fantastic experience. TDS fans are going to love this new incredible album. Chris (Stanford), Hammerhead, myself, we hope the fans feel the video does this amazing song justice. 2018 is going to be a big year for them."

On the collaboration, Perdomo continues, "Dale essentially put a ton of creative people in the same room together, and watched the creation unfold. Chris Stanford wrote and directed the treatment for the video, and we spent two days in between Dale's property, and the local hammerhead studios. What you see in this video is collaboration at it's finest."
