Utahns Speak Up to Make Your Utah, Your Future Nation’s Largest Public Outreach Effort Ever

Campaign response shows Utahns passionate about keeping state vibrant and healthy

SALT LAKE CITY (June 3, 2015) — The Your Utah, Your Future campaign, a public outreach initiative launched by Envision Utah to gather Utahns’ opinions on issues that matter most to Utah’s future, became the most successful effort of its kind in the nation by registering nearly 53,000 Utah voices in an online survey.

“The success of the Your Utah, Your Future campaign proves that Utahns are passionate about this state,” said Robert Grow, president and CEO of Envision Utah.  “The responses from Utahns will give our state and local policy makers and legislators – and every Utahn – a vision for Utah’s growth shaped by the voice of the people.”

The survey gave Utahns a platform where they could learn about choices and weigh in on the issues most critical to their future quality of life. Respondents were asked to choose between different growth scenarios for each of 11 topics, including air quality, education, water, public lands use, and agriculture. Envision Utah worked with 400 of the state’s experts and leaders in these topics for more than 18 months to create these growth scenarios.

Utah’s population is expected nearly to double within the next 35 years, adding another 2.5 million residents across the state. At the request of Gov. Gary Herbert, Envision Utah has been leading the Your Utah, Your Future process to create a vision and strategies to accommodate that growth and ensure Utah still has everything that people love about their state for the coming decades. The survey results will be released later this summer leading up to the release of the vision for Utah’s future in October.
