Rep. Rob Bishop to address youth at Boys State event TODAY
OGDEN, UT – Rep. Bishop will be continuing his annual tradition of speaking to participants at the annual American Legion Boys State program at Weber State University. The Legion’s Boys State website says, “participants are exposed to the rights and privileges, the duties and the responsibilities of a franchised citizen. The training is objective and practical with city, county and state governments operated by the students elected to the various offices. Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law enforcement presentations, assemblies, bands, chorus and recreational programs.”

Rep. Bishop’s own sons have participated in Boys State and Bishop told the Weber State Signpost “It’s a good program. I think they gain a lot from it. There are other kinds of programs around, but this gives them a week to be here to try and concentrate and try to understand the intricacies of different levels of government and how they work together.”
