Logan--For the 11th year in a row, Retreat for Girls is helping girls build testimonies and friendship. Girls 12-15 years old come for a week-long retreat in July where they will hear inspirational speakers and engage in gospel-centered activities that help strengthen their spirits. All of the counselors are female and most are returned LDS missionaries. Girls from all over the country travel to participate. They even have had international travelers come from Canada and 11 other countries.

Their theme this year is “Courage to Stand.” The speakers and activities will focus on helping the girls gain courage and fill their “spiritual buckets” one drop at a time. While the retreat is LDS based, girls of all faiths who are willing to abide by the LDS standards are welcome. In addition to speakers, they will do crafts and service-based projects. It is a fun week for all involved

Katie Smith founded the program based on the BYU program Academy for Girls that was discontinued. There was a void for the younger girls who sought a faith based program to attend. This labor of love has now been going for 11 years. To learn more about the retreat and read testimonials, visit their website www.retreatforgirls.com.

They do still have a few spots left; so, if you have a daughter 12-15 who would benefit from this experience, there is still time to sign her up. It will be an experience she will cherish and she will forge friendships based on faith and fun
