With Martin Luther King, Jr. Day around the corner and 92 percent of blacks saying whites benefit a great deal or a fair amount from advantages not available to blacks – versus 46 percent of whites who agreed with that statement – the personal-finance website WalletHub conducted an in-depth analysis of 2018's States with the Most Racial Progress.

To measure America’s progress in harmonizing racial groups, WalletHub measured the gaps between blacks and whites across 23 key indicators of equality and integration in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia. The data set ranges from median annual income to standardized-test scores to voter turnout.

This report examines the differences between only blacks and whites in light of the high-profile police-brutality incidents that sparked the Black Lives Matter movement and the holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who played a prominent role in the Civil Rights Movement to end segregation and discrimination against blacks.

Governor lowers flags in memory of Thomas S. Monson

SALT LAKE CITY (Jan. 8, 2018) – Gov. Gary R. Herbert has ordered the lowering of the flag of the United States of America and the flag of the State of Utah on Fri., Jan. 12, 2018 to honor the life and service of Thomas S. Monson, president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who will be laid to rest that day.

The governor previously issued the following statement:

Jeanette and I join millions of people around the world in mourning the death of LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson. His life was a sermon of service. He cared for all people as children of God. The state of Utah and its citizens are better people because of his example of kindness, his personal ministry and his visionary leadership.

While serving as the lay leader of his inner-city LDS congregation at a very young age, Thomas Monson learned to serve those who struggled with life’s challenges, especially the many widows in his neighborhood. That meaningful one-on-one service set him on his lifelong pathway of compassionate leadership that will endure in all of our hearts.

Throughout my years of public service it has been a distinct privilege to associate with President Monson and his sweet wife Frances. They became dear friends and mentors to our family. His legacy of service, compassion and unwavering love for all of God’s children will be felt for generations to come.

As we celebrate President Thomas S. Monson’s remarkable life, let us remember his focus on the one -- his admonition to serve the individuals around us -- recognizing that even the smallest actions can lift lives and brighten our world.

Our prayers are with President Monson’s family and friends as they mourn his passing.

Flags will be flown at half-staff at all state facilities and public grounds from sunrise until sunset on Fri., Jan. 12, 2018 only. Individuals and businesses are encouraged to fly the flag at half-staff for the same length of time.

MOOSE BLOOD

ANNOUNCE HEADLINE TOUR WITH SUPPORT FROM LYDIA AND MCCAFFERTY

FULL LENGTH I DON'T THINK I CAN DO THIS ANYMORE AVAILABLE MARCH 9 VIA HOPELESS RECORDS

APRIL 9th | THE COMPLEX | SALT LAKE CITY, UT

January 8th, 2018 - Canterbury, Kent's Moose Blood will headline a North American tour this spring in support of their upcoming full-length I Don't Think I Can Do This Anymore available March 9 via Hopeless Records. Opening acts include Lydia and McCafferty.

In November, Moose Blood announced details for their upcoming full-length and released the first single, "Talk In Your Sleep". Fans can watch the music video here: www.smarturl.it/talkinyoursleepvideo

"There's almost a circularity to this album when placed next to our first two," notes lead guitarist Mark Osborne. "The first is full of songs written by enthusiastic, excited kids who just wanted to get their music out there. 'Blush' was more about struggling with some of what came along with that change of lifestyle and 'I Don't Think I Can Do This Anymore' is really us trying to work through some of what has happened in our lives as a result of doing this band full time."

In an era where a majority of musicians seem to view writing good songs as low down the list of attributes required for a successful career, Canterbury quartet Moose Blood are that rarest of things: a band who let the songs do the talking.

I Don't Think I Can Do This Anymore is now available for pre-order: www.smarturl.it/IDTICDTA
