Wahlquist Junior High

Dear Students and Parents:                                                                                           July 8, 2019         

We hope that you are having a great summer!  Even though July is just beginning, it is already time to start planning for fall registration at Wahlquist Junior High School. 

ONLINE SCHOOL REGISTRATION INFORMATION

• · All school registration information is available online through your Portal account.  If you do not have a portal account, you may establish one at myweber.wsd.net

       You will need your student(s) ID number which appears on any report card—for further need assistance, call the school, (801)452-4640. 

• · If you do not have access to the internet, computers are available at the school for your use to read and/or print registration information.  Pre-printed packets will not be available at the school this year.   Call Mrs. Chadwick at (801) 452-4640 if you need assistance or would like to make an appointment to use a school computer during any business day.  Computers will also be available for your use at the school on registration day in the Media Center. 

• · Registration day is Monday, August 9, 2019. All required forms must be printed and filled out before students may register —bring those forms with the necessary payment on registration day. 
• · Student photos for student body cards and yearbook will be taken on Friday, August 23, 2019.  See online information from Lifetouch Photography.

PREPAID SCHOOL REGISTRATION

There is an early, pre-paid registration process for all students.  You may pre-pay fees online or at the school by Wednesday, July 31, 2019.  We encourage you to utilize this pre-payment option.  It will make registration day a much more pleasant experience for students and parents by expediting the wait associated with the crowds and long lines on registration day.  An accelerated registration process will await prepaid students so schedules may be picked up immediately.  Credit card payments may be made in person at the school or through myweber.wsd.net 

FEE WAIVER APPLICATON

Fee waiver applications must be submitted directly to the administration at Wahlquist Junior High School.  Fee waivers applications are separate from the Free and Reduced Lunch Application (which must be submitted to the District Child Nutrition Office).  The fee waiver application requires income documentation—a copy of your 2018 income tax return.  In order to process your fee waiver application before August 9, please submit your application to the school by July 31, 2019.

STATE REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENT IMMUNIZATION

All students entering the seventh grade are required to have the following immunizations:

• Three dose series of Hepatitis B
• Two doses of Hepatitis A
• Two doses of Chickenpox vaccine (Varicella) or documentation of history of disease with parent signature
• One dose of Meningococcal vaccine
• TDaP  booster

Documentation of these immunizations is required in addition to those immunizations which should already have been completed (i.e. MMR, Hepatitis A, and Polio).  As per state law, students without proof of these immunizations will not be allowed to register or begin school until this requirement is satisfied.  The school nurse will be available on registration day to answer questions.

We wanted to make you aware of how Wahlquist used our Trustlands allotment. The Trustlands program was set up to help fund schools using funds received for the use of designated public lands. This funding has been a huge help in creating the educational opportunities in which our students are able to experience.

In the 2018-2019 school year, Trustlands funding was used to:

• Decrease class size through teacher buyouts in Math and Science.
• Purchase textbooks, periodicals, and classroom sets of novels.
• Purchase graphing calculators, ALEKS and KUTA licenses
• Provide in-service for teachers and a Student Advocate
• Purchase band and orchestra instruments
• Lease computers, Chromebooks, and install technology infrastructure throughout the school.

We will continue to use this funding to provide our students with opportunities to succeed in this ever-changing world.

We are excited for a new year and plan on seeing you at registration.
