There will be no municipal elections this year. Those will take place next year while this year is the Weber County elections in November. Many residents came out to the July 22 City Council meeting for one thing only: to voice their opinion on the recent firing of Chief of Police Scott Jackson. Several residents were opposed to the firing while a few approved of the council’s decision. Some said the council acted hastily and that citizens should have a saying in the matter. Others said that the issue is a private one that should be dealt privately. In the end though, everyone wanted what is best for the City and not waste tax dollars on a lawsuit. There is a 142 page chain of events available for the public to read regarding the situation by going to www.pleasantviewcity.com and clicking on the “GRAMA Request Information” tab under the “Public Notices” section.

Also at the July 22 meeting, the council approved of an Interlocal Cooperative Agreement for Tow Dispatch Service. Ryon Hadley, who presented the agreement, said, “The agreement creates a fair and equitable rotation service for towing agencies. It avoids monopolies. The exception is if you break down, you have the choice on towing companies. This agreement has been entered into before. It is a five-year agreement with an annual review. It seems to work very well,” according to the meeting minutes. Hadley also mentioned how this setup will serve as a better way to send tow trucks to accidents.

At the August 12 meeting, Mayor Toby Mileski awarded Woodruff Auto with a community recognition certificate for their 30 years of doing business in Pleasant View. Mayor Mileski thanked them for their hard work and dedication to the community.

Road work is being done right now along 500 west after parts of the road were damaged from a microburst. School buses will be rerouted from this area while the road work is going on. Parts of the road will also be closed to traffic in order to protect motorists. The council is also looking at different solutions to better prevent issues with the storm drain from happening again.
