At the City Council meeting on March 25th, the Council discussed the recent findings from the water subcommittee. The plan is to start drilling a well without first trying out a test well. The cost of the production has been reduced by $400K, but there is the possibility that the well may end up being a redundant source. Biddings for well project happened on April 9th, with awarding happening on April 22.
Residents will also see a $5.00 increase on their next water bill or more if they use more than 6,000 gallons of water a month. There is a recommendation to look into how this would affect residents who don’t have secondary water.
The Council approved for the group Firestorm Pyrotechnics, Inc. to continue to provide a fireworks show for Founder’s Day. The company has worked with Pleasant View for the last 3-4 years and has been the safest group. The contract with Firestorm would last for three years, with the possibility of an extension if things continue to go well. The Council also approved the cancelation of the sewer maintenance bid award and plan on a re-bid later on.
The Council looked at different park locations to see which one would best accommodate pickle ball courts. The best option turned out to be the northern area of Barker Park. Valerie Claussen, assistant City administrator, said through an e-mail that there would be “four courts in the park a ways north of the bowery. RAMP Grant funds will pay for $85,000 of the project and there has been approximately $20,000 that has been fundraised by interested residents. When the preliminary plan is prepared and cost estimate is completed, Staff will be bringing it back to Council.” Mayor Toby Mileski also discussed “allocating up to $5,000 toward graveling a portion of the property so that it could serve as a parking lot” for the new lacrosse fields. The plan is “to have topsoil brought in and additional grass seed planted and then see how the field does this next season and how the grass grows, etc.”
