SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH (July 2, 2014) – For a third consecutive year, organizers of the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah will host a complimentary Tour de France Viewing Party in downtown Salt Lake City for the community. The event will be held Saturday, July 19 at The Gateway Megaplex Theatre. Doors open at 6 a.m. to be followed by the live broadcast of Stage 14 from the Tour de France on the theatre big screen.

Admission is free. Refreshments, door prizes and giveaways, including a new SCOTT Solace 30 carbon fiber road bike, will be provided by the Tour of Utah and its corporate partners. Staff from the Tour of Utah will be on hand to provide information for individuals and groups to register as volunteers during race week with Local Organizing Committees.

Six of the professional cycling teams racing at this year’s Tour de France will compete at the 2014 Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah on August 4-10 -- Belkin-Pro Cycling Team (The Netherlands), BMC Racing Team (USA), Can nondale Pro Cycling (Italy), Team Garmin-Sharp (USA), Team LAMPRE-MERIDA (Italy), and Trek Factory Racing (USA).

The Tour de France is the largest and most spectacular of the Grand Tours of professional bicycle races, stretching across three weeks and 2,000 miles. This year’s Tour de France from July 5-27

consists of 21 stages for its 101st edition. Stage 14 is featured for the Viewing Party as one of the major climbing days in France. Two legendary peaks in the French Alps -- the Lautaret and the Izoard -- are part of Stage 14. Once the cyclists crest the grueling 19-kilometer climb over Col d’Izoard, fans should be on the edge of their seats at The Gateway Megaplex for the final hour of racing to the summit finish at Risoul.
