Local volunteers needed to welcome hundreds of thousands to Ogden
OGDEN, Utah (July 18, 2014) – Ogden readies to welcome an anticipated 750,000 visitors to its community throughout the month of August. As several world-class events come to Ogden significant foot traffic will be present in the downtown area. Opportunities have been identified for volunteers to serve as ambassadors to provide information and to help newcomers navigate the town.
“Ogden’s greatest asset is its people,” says Ogden Mayor Mike Caldwell. “We encourage locals to volunteer as ambassadors to share their love of Ogden with the people who will be experiencing our community for the first time or perhaps again from a fresh perspective.”
Approximately 1,500 ambassadors are needed to cover 4-hour shifts over the course of 32 days. A signup page has been established at http://oneogden.volunteerlocal.com where residents can select dates and times to volunteer. Volunteers receive an official ambassador shirt along with printed and electronic materials to help guide visitors.
A mobile app and website have been created to highlight popular attractions including public art, walking tours, restaurants, parking, and directions to some of Weber County’s greatest natural assets and picturesque landscapes. The One Ogden mobile app is available on Apple and Android devices. The One Ogden website can be found at http://oneogden.com.
“The impact that these events will have on the entire county is tremendous and we look forward to participating as ambassadors. Community involvement and willing participation from our citizens truly makes this area unique.” said Weber County Commissioner Kerry Gibson.
