Church Members Look Forward to Second General Women’s Meeting

Millions of women and girls ages 8 years old and older from around the world will come together as part of the second general women’s meeting of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints this Saturday, 27 September, at 6:00 p.m. mountain daylight time. Full Story

Church History Museum Closes for Interior Renovation

Thirty years after its opening, the Church History Museum on Temple Square in Salt Lake City will close on 6 October 2014, for one year to complete major interior renovations. The museum will be open through Sunday, 5 October, and will reopen in the fall of 2015 with a newly designed floor plan and exhibits. Full Story

Exhibit Highlights Women in the Scriptures

Visitors to the Conference Center in Salt Lake City will see 11 new paintings of courageous women from the scriptures on the west side of the plaza level. The oil paintings are the works of artist Kathleen Peterson, who lives on an 80-acre farm with her husband in central Utah’s rural Spring City. Peterson, the mother of four grown children and a grandmother, paints in her home studio. Full Story

Pew: Religion Losing Influence in America

A new study from the Pew Research Center shows that 72 percent of the United States public thinks religion is losing influence in American life, the highest level in Pew Research polling over the past 10 years. Significantly, most of the respondents who say religion's influence is waning describe this as a bad thing. Full Story

The Ogden Utah Temple was rededicated Sunday, 21 September 2014, by President Thomas S. Monson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, after undergoing extensive renovation. The temple’s entire exterior was reshaped and new stone and art glass were added. Full Story
