Gutierrez Family Issues Statement Concerning the Disappearance of
Daughter and Sister, Veronica Gutierrez
Salt lake City – (November 4, 2014) – 20-year-old Veronica Gutierrez went missing around 10 a.m. on Sunday, November 2 after attending an LDS sacrament meeting at the ward house located at 7171 S. 2700 W. in West Jordan.
There’s been inaccurate information presented causing a misunderstanding of the situation. The family would like to clarify that before Veronica’s disappearance, there was a discussion about the option of her moving back to her parent’s house, which concluded with her choosing to stay with her sisters. On Sunday morning, she was invited by her older sister to attend church with her and her parents. After sacrament meeting around 10:15 a.m. Veronica was seen walking into the hallway. Her sister and parents started looking for her to see if she wanted to stay or wanted a ride home, but didn’t find her. Her parents searched for her outside and down the street, even driving around the block thinking she might have gone home on foot, which is in close proximity. After a few hours with no contact from Veronica, her family began to worry.
To disappear like this is completely out of Veronica’s character. She is very close with her family. There was no indication before and after her disappearance that she was planning on leaving voluntarily. All of her personal belongings are still at home. The only things Veronica has with her are the clothes on her back, her purse and cell phone.
Veronica’s family is asking for the assistance from the public, and is anxious to know if her disappearance was by force, coercion or self-act. Again, it is completely out of her character to take such a bold action in leaving her family questioning her whereabouts for more than a day’s length.
Veronica Gutierrez is described as a Hispanic female with brown eyes, long brown hair, around 5 feet 5 inches and 220 pounds. She has a light vertical scar on her right cheek and a chemical burn scar in between her fingers on her right hand.
If you have seen her or have any information on her disappearance please contact West Jordan authorities at 801.840.4000 case #14H015361. Please help us spread the word and locate her.
