Fly Fishing Film Festival benefitting Ogden River Restoration

The most anticipated and celebrated event in the fly fishing industry, the Fly Fishing Film Tour (F3T), comes to the Perry’s Egyptian Theater Friday, March 6, for its fifth year in Ogden.

As part of its annual continent-wide trek with over 40,000 attendees, 150-plus shows, and more than 200 fly shop partners, this year F3T will support filmmakers by giving back over $30,000, and most importantly will create awareness for all of the local conservation groups who benefit from the proceeds of the tour’s 150 stops. In Ogden, proceeds from F3T benefit the preservation of the Ogden River Trailways.

“I expect an even bigger presence at this year’s show,” says event coordinator Justin Anderson, City Engineer for Ogden City Corp and Director of the Ogden River Restoration Project. “The audience continues to grow because local anglers have such a great time at this show. F3T sets a stage for top filmmakers—some of the best fishing films you’ll ever see—and they really engage our local angler shops and outfitters along with an educational component and awareness opportunity for our conservation groups like the Department of Natural Resources, Urban Forestry, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, and Trout Unlimited.”

Adventure is a focal point of the films featured in this year’s tour. F3T co-owner Chris Keig said, “We approached this year with the attitude that “adventure is what you make it’ and sometimes the greatest adventures can be found in your own backyard or an urban corridor.”

Such is the case for the Ogden River. Fully restored, the Ogden River offers citizens, locals, and visitors a recreational oasis in the heart of downtown Ogden. “Helping our community understand what a gem the Ogden River is for them, that it’s right here in their backyard, is what the F3T does for Ogden,” says Anderson. “Most residents don’t realize how easy, how accessible it is to take the kids fishing on the weekend, or just to enjoy the bike path or the beauty of nature that the river adds to our downtown.”

Seating is General Admission.

Tickets are $14 each plus a $1.50 Facility Fee. Order your tickets online 24/7 through Smithstix, by phone at 801-689-8700 or in person at the Box Office M-F 2-6 pm
