Mother dog shot twice in head, $5,000 reward offered

Humane Society of Utah offers reward for information leading to arrest of Karma’s shooter

Karma, a 3 to 5-year-old chocolate Labrador, was recently found in the foothills of Sanpete County with serious injuries from two gunshots to the back of the head. The Humane Society of Utah is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible. The HSU hopes the reward assists the Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office in obtaining information required to identify and charge whoever is responsible for this heinous act of animal cruelty.

According to Debbie Welder, Rescue Rovers Dog Adoptions, Karma had recently given birth to a litter of puppies that were not found in the area. Karma was rushed into surgery and is expected to recover but will most likely suffer permanent issues.

“As with any horrific incident, we want to understand the situation in order to prevent future occurrences,” said Deann Shepherd, HSU representative.

Appreciation is given to Rescue Rovers Dog Adoptions, Wag-N-Train Dog Rescue and the Payson Family Pet Hospital for their efforts to rescue Karma.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office at 435-835-2191.
