Heidi Mead

Some new additions were made to the Planning Commission at the council meeting on January 27. Neil Amaral, who has been serving as an alternative since June 2014, will now serve as a regular on the commission. Keith Preece was also appointed as a regular to the commission. Jim Cummings and Kristi Hales were appointed as alternates for the commission. There was also discussion at the meeting about identifying repairs needed for the CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) building. Pleasant View Assistant City Administrator Valerie Claussen said through an e-mail that, “[The] Council wants to proceed to have the identified repairs done with the insurance money the City will receive from the claim.  The Council indicated that they continue to support the use of the building for the CERT trainings they have there.” Training done through CERT helps members of the community become more prepared to handle emergencies that may arise at any moment. The Council also amended the 2014-2015 fiscal-year Budget. Valerie said that there was a reallocation of funds, such as having the building inspection services moved from a salary to a professional service line item due to the City being on a contract with building inspection services. Additional funds will also be provided for a “Sensitive Lands Study” that the City is in the process of trying to get started (for the area north of 4300 North).” A reminder that Founder’s Day will be June 27. More information will follow as the date comes closer.
