Senator Orrin Hatch Presented With ACU Award for Conservative Achievement

Award Reflects Putting Principle Ahead of Petty Politics

WASHINGTON DC -- The American Conservative Union (ACU) Chairman Matt Schlapp today presented Senator Orrin Hatch with the ACU Award for Conservative Achievement based on his score of 80/100 as part of ACU’s Annual Rating of Congress.  The 2014 Rating of Congress grades members of Congress based on their votes on issues important to conservatives and have been a yearly occurrence since 1971.  The full guide is now available at www.conservative.org/ratings.

The award is given only to those Members of the House and Senate who scored 80-89% on a wide variety of issues of concern to grassroots conservatives voted on during the second session of the 113th Congress.

“For 44 years, our ACU Ratings have been considered the gold standard in determining a Member of Congress’ courage to stand up to big government liberals and to stand strongly in favor of policy positions important to conservatives. Our award-winning Senators and Congressmen are fighting to protect the rights and freedom of all Americans by honoring President Reagan’s three-legged stool of economic, national security, and cultural conservative issues,” said ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp.

“Senator Orrin Hatch is a true conservative legend. He’s worked with the ACU on issues ranging from international trade to life issues, on which he has been a life-long champion for our movements principles. We are proud to honor Senator Hatch for his good work, and look forward to working with him on issues important to conservatives in the future.”

Since 1971, the nation’s oldest grassroots conservative organization has annually graded members of Congress based on their votes on issues important to conservatives. The full guide is now available at www.conservative.org/ratings
