Senators to Announce Agreement on Criminal Justice Reform Bill
WASHINGTON—A bipartisan group of Senators will announce an agreement on a comprehensive criminal justice reform bill, tomorrow, Thursday, October 1, at 10 a.m. ET in the Senate Radio-TV Gallery. The bill is a product of months of work and is aimed at recalibrating prison sentences for certain drug offenders, targeting violent criminals, granting judges greater discretion at sentencing for lower-level drug crimes, and helping prisoners successfully re-enter society and avoid re-offending. Policy experts for the members will be available following the press conference to answer background questions about the bill.
