Senator Sasse to Pay Up on BYU-Nebraska Football
Wager With Senator Lee
Salt Lake City—TODAY at 1:45 p.m. MST, Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) will accompany Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) to the Utah Food Bank in Salt Lake City, where the pair will make good on their wagers from the BYU v. Nebraska football game.
In early September, Senator Lee pledged to send 10 Norbest turkeys to the Omaha Open Door Mission if BYU came up short at the kickoff game. Sasse committed to sharing 10 pork loins from Pillen Family Farms with the Utah Food Bank if the Huskers failed to deliver.
The Cougars’ last-second Hail Mary pass secured a win for Senator Lee—but, more importantly—for the Utah Food Bank. Rather than the 10 pork loins Sasse originally committed, he and Pillen Family Farms will donate 200 pounds of pork. Pillen Family Farms is driving the donation from Nebraska to Utah to make the drop off personally and is scheduled to arrive at 1:45 p.m. MST. Senator Lee will donate Norbest turkeys.
Press are invited to attend the drop off, and hear remarks from Senator Lee, Senator Sasse, Utah Food Bank President and CEO Jim Yorgason, and Norbest CEO Matt Cook.
Media planning to attend the event must RSVP to Emily Long (Emily_long@lee.senate.gov).
