Hatch Statement on Travel Executive Order

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Senator Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, the senior member and former Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, issued the following statement on President Trump’s new travel executive order:

“The current situation in the Middle East presents a number of tough choices for the new administration. When the President issued his first executive order on travel visas, I called on him‎ to act expeditiously to tailor the administration's policy to avoid unnecessarily burdening innocent travelers and refugees fleeing violence and persecution. With today's updated order, the President has made significant progress toward that goal. I applaud him for his leadership and urge him to continue the difficult work of crafting policies that keep us safe while living up to our best values.”
