Greenwood Charter School is out for the summer but gardening season is in full swing!  Come help Greenwood get their gardens ready!  Volunteers are needed to construct school gardens on Wednesdays from 10-12 a.m. at Greenwood, which is located at: 840 N. Hwy 89.  Bring gardening tools, gloves, shovels, rakes and of course, your kids!   The garden is located on the north side of Greenwood (behind the school) Help us grow Greenwood!

And don’t forget about Heritage Days from August 4th-6th.  Located at the Harrisville City Park.  Food, Fun and Fireworks!

There is the old saying that says, “Time is money,” which many may feel is all about earning top dollar while giving our time to anything.  Certainly, it is rewarding to receive a paycheck after a hard day’s work, but a deeper satisfaction stems from giving one’s time without monetary value attached.  Rather, the joy of serving others has a more lasting impact overall.

Weber High Mountain Biking Team Gearing up for the 2016 Season

The warm weather is here and summer is in full swing which also means you’ll be seeing plenty of mountain bikers hitting the trails.  In particular, you might see the Weber High Mountain Biking team or the Junior Devo team honing in on their technical biking skills as they practice for the upcoming races.

Harrisville Public Works Director Retiring after 27 Years

After 27 years of holding the position as Public Works Director for Harrisville City, Gene Bingham will hand over his mantle and retire. His valuable insight and knowledge will be passed onto Sean Lambert of Farr West.  Lambert begins his new role as Public Works Director in June 2016.  Mentorship has already begun with Lambert because of good relationships shared among the neighboring cities.  Bingham assuredly tells us, “We are very fortunate to have Sean. I was keeping my fingers crossed that he would accept this challenge.”

Summer tennis lessons begin June 6, 2016, at the Harrisville City tennis courts.  Registration was held on May 10, but there may still be a few open spots available.  For more information, please visit their website at:  tennisrec.wix.com/msctennis.

            Harrisville Splash Pad season will open May 30 at 10 am.  Splash Pad hours of operation are 10am to 8 pm. And will run from Memorial Day through Labor Day.  The Splash Pad is located at the main park at 1350 North Highway 89.

Weber High School student fights child hunger

& becomes Utah Young Humanitarian finalist

 

Ogden, UtahMay 24, 2016 – After learning that 48% of the students in Weber School District were on free and reduced lunch, Michaela Kowalewski took action and played an integral role in starting the Weekend Warrior Food Pack Program, which provides 89 elementary students with a pack of food to sustain them over the weekend every week.
