3*3*2019 - Don't Import Foreign Price Controls; Break Them

Americans are justifiably angry that we pay the highest prescription drugs prices in the world – anger President Trump tapped into on the campaign trail.  The disparity exists because other rich countries use price control schemes, forcing American consumers to provide the returns on capital that justify the enormous research and development costs associated with bringing new cures to market; the rest of the world free-rides on our innovation.

3-2-2019 - Price controls would kill medical innovation

Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar recently proposed sweeping reforms to Medicare. He hopes the changes will reduce the price of many cancer drugs and other advanced therapies.

The proposal may accomplish that goal -- but at great costs to patients' health. The overhaul would stifle innovation and smother the cures of tomorrow.

The proposal targets Medicare Part B drugs, which include advanced cancer treatments, immunotherapies, and other medicines administered under physician supervision.

The world is an inviting and exciting roller-coaster ride for our children—the world is a hazardous and unsafe place for our children. Life is a two-sided coin for our children. Disney World, Cedar Point, Sea World. Columbine, Sandy Hook, Parkland.

America. It is the best of times—it is the worst of times.

This time it is the Democrats lining up with alms bowl in hand—not to their constituents or the little donors that used to be their base long ago, but the super rich who they pretend to be against.

Snowfall brings wildlife into Utah cities

It’s been a wild winter along the Wasatch Front. In a single weekend, a mountain goat wandered into Cottonwood Heights, three cougars—one of which peered through a window—visited a home at the mouth of Mill Creek Canyon, and Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) biologists and officers tranquilized and moved a cow moose and its calf from Bountiful.

2-27-2019 - Hate Crime Hoaxes: The Bad and the Good

Jussie Smollett, "Empire" actor, claimed that on Jan. 29, two masked men identifying themselves as Donald Trump supporters and using racial and homophobic insults attacked him. Smollett said the assailants yelled "This is MAGA country," bashed his face, crushed his ribs, splashed him with bleach and put a noose around his neck. Smollett's telling of the hate crime was gobbled up hook, line and sinker by the anti-Trump news media, but Chicago police say it was a hoax.
