WASHINGTON – Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) spoke from the Senate floor today about his vote for S. 1881, a bill to end taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood. You can read his full speech below:

Gov. Herbert appoints Dr. Miner to lead Health Department

SALT LAKE CITY (Aug. 3, 2015) – Gov. Gary R. Herbert has appointed Dr. Joseph Kay Miner, M.D., MSPH to lead the Utah Department of Health. Dr. Miner will replace Dr. David Patton who left the executive director position July 31, 2015 to pursue opportunities in the private sector. Dr. Miner’s confirmation is subject by the Utah State Senate.

Gov. Herbert urges Obama to avoid unilateral monument designation

Herbert sent a letter to President Barack Obama today strongly urging the president to not use unilateral executive authority to designate a national monument in Utah. Instead, the Governor is encouraging the Obama Administration to pursue an open, public designation process to protect lands in Utah.
