Saving Money with Food savers Ideas

We can all use a little help saving some money.  Here are a few ideas for making life easier and saving a little money at the same time:

·         Want to make your leftover salad last longer? Drape a paper towel over the top and cover it with plastic wrap. It will stay fresh for a whole week.

·         How to soften butter quickly, but not melt it:  Pour boiling hot water in a glass to heat the glass. Dump the water out and flip it over your stick of butter. I a few minutes it will be soft to use.

·         Make your own ranch seasoning mix: 1 tsp garlic powder, 2 TBS parsley flakes, ½ tsp. basil, 1 tsp onion flakes, 1 tsp. dill weed, and ½ tsp pepper.

·         A method to keep ice cream soft—it doesn’t have to bend your spoon:  put Ice Cream in a zip lock bag.

·         If you don’t have frosting, place a large marshmallow on top of the cupcake about 5 minutes before they finish baking.

·         Frozen marshmallow hot cocoa milkshake: ice cream, cocoa, milk ice and coffee creamer.

·         How to prevent the stomach bug! Drink grape juice!

·         Use honey for sleep aid and for constipation.

·         Rub lemons over stretch marks to reduce their appearance and drink lemon juice to lower cholesterol.

·         Freeze gummy bears in sprite with a popsicle stick for a great treat.

·         Make ice cream cubes for shakes and floats in an ice tray.

·         To keep bread fresh: place fresh celery stick with loaf of bread and leave overnight.

·         Put a lemon wedge into the water while you boil the eggs, the peel will slide off the egg.

·         Bacteria is what causes cottage cheese to go bad. If you store the containers UPSIDE DOWN, it creates a vacuum in the container which stifles the growth of bacteria and they last longer.

·         Need heavy cream?  Make your own by combining 2/3 cup whole milk with 1/3 cup melted unsalted butter.
