Amendment 31: Congressional Status and
Compensation
Section 1. Members of the Senate and the House of Representatives will hereafter be designated State Employees; they will no longer be compensated out of the federal budget.
Section 2. States are responsible for the compensation of said members, including, but not limited to, salary, living allowance, travel allowance, medical insurance, retirement arrangements, and disability coverage, just as each state does its other employees.
Section 3. Congressional staffs, including the appropriate size of said staff, will also be the responsibility of each state, including, but not limited to, salary, medical insurance, retirement arrangements, disability coverage, and any travel/accommodations deemed appropriate.
Section 4. Office space for all members of Congress will continue to be provided as in the past.
