Scouting for Food

Sunday, March 10, 2019 - 3:15pm

Thousands of Local Scouts Encourage Communities to Fill a Bag to Feed Local Families March 6, 2019 Ogden UT – Local units from the Boy Scouts of America will collect non-perishable food items for local food pantries during their 33rd annual Scouting for Food on Saturday morning, March 16.

Cub Scout packs will distribute yellow bags next week.  Residents are encouraged to fill the bags with nonperishable food donations and leave them at their front door by 9am on Saturday, March 16.  Scout troops, assisted by the Utah National Guard, will pick up the food donations and deliver them to local food pantries.

“Our Scouts enjoy this yearly tradition,” says Allen Endicott, Trapper Trails Council’s Scout Executive.  “They can see the impact that our community makes in the fight against hunger.”

In 2018, Scout units with the Trapper Trails Council collected 454,549 pounds of food during the annual food drive.
