The General Election will take place November 7, 2017! Remember to get registered to vote!

National Fire Prevention Week will be observed the week of October 9th.  The National Fire Week theme this year is “Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!”  Whether you have a large  family or live alone it is so important to have at least two pre-identified safe routes out of your home and have fire drills at least twice a year, with everyone living in the home to practice using the safe routes and going to the pre-planned meeting site. In the event of a fire, seconds count!  In the event of a fire the practice drills will be key to saving time to get out of your home, reducing anxiety, and increasing the safety for you and your family members.  Be sure to teach your children how to escape from a fire in your home on their own using the planned two ways out.

Other good things to do to help make your home fire safe are to: make sure you have up-to-date smoke detectors on every floor of your home, and if possible in every bedroom. Change the batteries in the smoke detectors twice a year. To make it easier to remember to change the batteries, many people change the smoke detector batteries when they change the clocks for daylight savings time in November and March. Ensure there is at least one fire extinguisher on each level of your home conveniently located for quick access. Being prepared for possible fire emergencies will give you greater peace of mind so you can more fully enjoy the beauty and goodness of your family, home, and the community of Perry.

Pine View Secondary water will be shut off around October 15th this year.

Three Mile Creek Elementary PTA is sponsoring a community Pumpkin Walk on Friday, October 27th from 6:00-8:00 pm. Students will be decorating pumpkins around a theme and their pumpkins will be on display. There will also be a hot cocoa bar and pizza dinner for the family. Everyone is invited! Hope to see you there!
