Willard has announced a great success with their City-wide clean-up that was held in April. The dike area is undergoing construction for a new recreation area.  In the past, dumping tree limbs was permitted, but this is no longer allowed. There are alternatives at the green waste area in Brigham City or individual burn permits. The Box Elder County landfill also offers “Pay Once” on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturdays of every month for public non-weighable loads only. Call 435-744-2275 for more information.

No burn permits will be issued unless the clearing index is above 500 for Airshed 4. The Division of Air Quality regulates this, not the County Fire Marshal.  If the Burn Index is not above 500 on the day you want to burn, do not call for a burn permit.

Residential Burn Permit “Windows" are March 30 to May 30 and September 15 to October 30. State requirements limit burning for only natural vegetation, ie: tree trimmings, leaves, etc. This means that no construction debris, household garbage, tires, etc. can be burned. Other methods of disposal will need to be used for these items.  If the date is between the Residential Burn windows and the index is above 500 for Airshed 4 call 435-734-3345. Burn permits for Saturday will be issued on Friday and there is to be no burning on Sunday.

Agricultural Burn Permits fall into a little different category and permits can be issued year round, ONLY if the Clearing Index is above 500 for Airshed 4. In order to qualify for an agriculture burn permit, it must be natural vegetation.  For example: fruit tree pruning, ditch banks and stubble fields.  Farming must be the livelihood, and the property must be in the greenbelt for taxes. If this meets the criteria for Agricultural Burn Permits and the Clearing Index is above 500 for Airshed 4, call 435-734-3345.  Burn permits for Saturday will be issued on Friday and there is to be no burning on Sunday.

100 N Waterline Replacement Project has been underway for a while.  This is a much needed project even though the residents had a few days with no water while work was performed. The City went to great lengths to warn residents of shut-offs and asked people to have emergency supplies of water on hand.

Willard participated in the “Great Shake Out” on Thursday April 16, 2015 at 10:15 a.m. with success in the neighborhoods participating with C.E.R.T.

The 4th of July Committee is already planning for the upcoming celebration. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Land that I Love.” Please contact Marjorie Ross at 435-734-0556 or 435-730-0465 (cell) or Council member Del Fredde 435-723-2509, if you have suggestions or if you would be willing to volunteer to help with this year’s event.
