Jennie Taylor, widow of Major Brent Taylor of the Utah National Guard, recently spoke to students at Box Elder Middle School in regards to Veteran’s Day.

“It’s important to make sure we understand what a veteran is.  A veteran is anyone who at any time, anywhere, that has served in any branch of America’s military.”

Taylor went onto say, “They might’ve gone to war or they might not have needed to during a time of peace.  They might have been in the army, navy, air force, marines, or coastguard.  They might have served for a long time or a short time.  They might’ve seen horrible things in battle they might’ve worked in an office making sure things are supported…The cause of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness with liberty and justice for all IS worth it.”

Throughout this past week we have seen many occasions to remember our veterans in the North Ogden area with the majestic flag, “The Major” hanging in Coldwater Canyon, the Sunday devotional at Barker Park to commemorate all Veteran’s and the opportunity to donate blood in memory of Major Brent Taylor at the blood drive on Friday evening, November 8, 2019.

Whatever you do on this special day, November 11th, 2019, please take the time to remember those veterans you know and even those you don’t know.  You can stop by the North Ogden public library and look at the hundreds of flags all dedicated to someone living or fallen who has served time in the United States military in one form or another.

If you happen to see a porch light with a green bulb inside, you’ll know it is in remembrance of veteran’s everywhere.  Pick up your own bulb at the North Ogden City offices today.
