Karen Cronin – Mayor

What would you like your fellow citizens to know about you?

A.  I, along with my husband and children, think Perry is the perfect place to call home.  We enjoy four-wheeling, camping, skiing, boating, playing tennis, & walking through the beautiful, quiet neighborhoods of Perry.  As mayor of Perry, I will be available 24/7 to resolve issues that arise and work to improve City services (utilities, streets, police, first responders, etc.) in a financially prudent manner and in a way that meets the needs of a diverse population, as well as serve as an ambassador for the City.  As the financial director of AIM PT (Ability in Motion Physical Therapy and Rehab), I am responsible for making payroll and making the financial decisions for a small business which has been able to post dividends each of the past four years.

What would you like to change in your city?

A.  Perry needs to upgrade many of the roads within our City and establish a more robust maintenance plan.  However, in order to do this without increasing the tax burden on our community members, we need to find alternate revenue sources.

Why are you running?

A.  I am running for mayor of Perry City because I have worked over the past seven years as a Perry City Council Member and as a Perry City Planning Commissioner to mold the ordinances to help Perry City to be business friendly and I have also developed critical professional relationships with business owners, other governmental officials, community members, and developers so that I have a solid knowledge base of the needs of the community members, the City, and the processes in place which can drive economic growth. I understand that if we want our small businesses to thrive we need to reduce government policies that burden small businesses and instead work to promote these businesses which in turn will help to provide the sales tax revenue needed within our cities and states. Because of the partnerships I have worked to build, I have the advantage of being able to bring the critical people together to work to vigorously pursue economic development to provide employment opportunities, increase the tax base within Perry City, and provide needed services closer to home for residents of Perry City and in Northern Utah.
