With the month of May comes a few honorary weeks we’d like to mention—Municipal Clerks week was this last week May 8-12; and upcoming National Public Works Week May 21- 26. We want to thank those that have put so much in to their work at the City.

Although it seems like spring just arrived, things are already in full swing planning for the summer and the Perry City Fourth of July Hometown Celebration!  This year there will be a new twist to the Mayor’s Movie in the Park.  It will be      “Dinner AND the Mayor’s Movie in the Park.” The dinner options will come from food trucks that will be at the park for movie goers to be able to purchase dinner before the movie starts. Of course the City will provide the popcorn to eat during the movie!

One of the highlights of the Perry City 4th of July Celebrations is the opportunity to recognize and honor some of the wonderful people in our community with the awards of Parade Grand Marshall, Citizen of the Year, Business of the Year, Boyd White Award, and the Mayor’s Award.  The first four of these awards are based on nominations that come from residents within the community.  Please take a few minutes to think about your friends and neighbors in Perry and who makes your life a little better because of their service to you and the community. Write down their names and a short description about their service, then bring it by or mail it to the Perry City Office sometime during the month of May.

It’s time to start thinking about 4th Of July softball. There will only be 10 teams to play. Please contact Paul Nelson at 435-230-0343. Paul will take calls until Friday June 16th. NOTICE!!  CHANGES FOR THE PERRY 4TH OF JULY 5K AND 1 MILE RACE. In an effort to encourage pre-registration, the pre-registration cost for the race will stay at $3 per person per event, HOWEVER, the day of the race cost will INCREASE to $15 per person per race. Preregistration will be accepted through the close of business on Monday July 3rd.

Before you burn your spring trimmings, you must first obtain a burn permit. There is no cost. Permits can be obtained by going online thru Brigham City’s web page underneath the dept. tab, then under Fire/EMS there is a link for open burn permits.  Permits will be available on days with good air quality.

The Utah Division of Water Resources can neither confirm nor deny that hundreds of Utahans have been consumed by the Graboids from Tremors after multiple underground monsters broke through their landscapes due to shallow, overwatered root systems.

“It is OK this time of year to let your lawn’s roots reach a little deeper. This will make your landscape more resilient in the long-term, and your grass will be greener for it,” said Faye Rutishauser, Utah Division of Water Resources Water Conservation Coordinator. “Plus, shallow root systems put little protection between you and the Graboids,” Rutishauser said.

As a result, the division is asking most Utahans to wait a little longer before running their sprinkler systems, and to spot water dry areas. #H2Oath #SlowTheFlow
