Willard—Willard City awarded a contract back on August 27, 2015, to Staker- Parsons for the new Willard Creek Nature Park and Debris Basin Rehabilitation. This project was made possible by the Willard Bay Mitigation Grant. The construction has started, so be aware there will be equipment and work going on in the area. Everyone is being asked to stay away from the area during construction hours and report any suspicious activity immediately by calling 435-734-3800 or 911, if it is an emergency.
The police have had several incidences with bicycles, and wish to make known that there are rules that need to be obeyed. A bicycle is a vehicle and the drivers are expected to follow the same rules of the road. When riding in the street, obey all traffic (stop) signs and yield (wait) for traffic. If there is no stop sign, and you are coming from a smaller roadway, (out of a driveway, from a sidewalk, a bike path, etc.), slow down and look to see if the way is clear before proceeding. When turning left or right, always look behind you, then make the turn. Please sit down with your children and go over these few things to help keep them safe.
A reminder to everyone: the Willard Library has a great selection of books, videos, and audio books to be checked out. The library is located in the City Office Building and houses the Box Elder County Book Mobile. If you have bookmobile books, they can be returned there. There are new days for the library to be opened: Monday and Wednesday 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM.
Please be aware of the Code Red notification system in place for the area. Please go to the Willard City’s web page to see the link to sign up. Code Red is a notification system that uses various means to get important emergency notifications out to members of the community. Box Elder County now has this system. The system will send out calls to listed home phone lines. Many people do not have home phones and Code Red can call cell phones, send text messages, and an app is available for smartphones. Click on the Code Red logo to register your cell phone or additional numbers. Check your cell phone app store for the Code Red app.
With winter on its way there are many things that come to mind. The city is asking for you to be aware of where your vehicles are parked for the winter plowing. Take precautions with locking your vehicles and doors to your homes. With the holidays approaching, there are more robberies and home invasions that happen. If you see any suspicious activities please call 911.
