With the changing of the seasons and the crisp, fall air emerging it is a great time to be outside enjoying the cooler weather. Not to mention the beautiful autumn leaves!
Here are some suggestions for fall family traditions. Pick and choose what might work for you!
Going to a Corn Maze/pumpkin patch:
Visiting a corn maze and pumpkin patch is one of the quintessential fall activities and, albeit, fun too! Two of the best choices, in my opinion, are the Corn Maize in West Haven and Gibson’s Green Acres in Ogden.
The Corn Maize is located at 2801 South 3500 West, West Haven, UT. 84401. You’ll find 10 acres of fun filled with a haunted trail, giant corn maze, pumpkin patch, hay slides, photo opportunity station, concessions, a toddler area, light show, pumpkin patch, zip line, barrel train and more! You can check things out at www.thecornmaize.com for more details or call 801-645-5392.
Gibson’s Green Acres is located 449 S. 4700 W. in Ogden, UT. 84404. Call 1-801-940-6339 and ask for Andrea.
Here at Gibson’s Green Acres you can enjoy a corn maze, a haunted maze, wagon ride, giant hay slides, visit the animals, cow train, butter bouncer and more! Go to www.greenacresdairy.com for more information. There’s so much to do and the best part is picking our pumpkin right out of their very own patch.
Fall hikes: Take your family to see the leaves! Get out and enjoy hundreds of hikes within minutes of your home. In the Ogden Valley you can enjoy several hikes in the North Fork area. The Bonneville Shoreline trail is bursting with color right now. Also, the Indian Trail right in the heart of the Ogden Canyon is rich in color. Download the app “Hiking Project” to find any hikes you’d like to explore! The possibilities are endless. You’ll want to take advantage of hiking before all the fall leaves are gone.
Fall Bike Ride: Take an afternoon to get outside and go for a bike ride, and see the autumn leaves, while the air is cooler but not too cold. One of the perfect locations for this is, again, the Ogden Valley. Here, you can ride along the paved bike trail and not worry about avoiding cars. You can simply ride and enjoy your surroundings. Take along a friend or family member and relish in the season together. Be sure to dress appropriately for the cooler weather and, of course, brightly colored clothing is best.
Visit the North Logan Pumpkin Walk. Go to www.pumpkinwalk.org and there you’ll find all the information you’ll need to have a fun, fall outing in Logan! The admission is FREE. Every year there is a theme to the pumpkin walk and the 2019 theme is: “Imagine That.”
In 1983, Ida and Wallace Beutler began the North Logan Pumpkin Walk with a simple Halloween display in the field of their family farm on 1600 East in Logan. Mrs. Beutler had a vision for a lighter, happier version of Halloween. The pumpkin walk has been going ever since!
The Pumpkin Walk is a family outing you won’t want to miss! Every year there is more creative juices flowing and more to laugh about. You’ll want to dress warm and come enjoy the atmosphere. A free cookie from a friendly witch is also one of the highlights.
