Willard August Update –

Thursday, August 22, 2019 - 8:30am
Dawn Scothern / Newsletters ect.

Fire on the Bay at Willard Bay State Park was last Saturday night. It was a lot of fun. With vendors, food trucks, bouncy houses. The paddle boat races, and hot dog eating contest…everyone was there to have fun. There were 5 boats that decked themselves out for the boat parade. Followed by a water light show set to music. The fireworks got off to a bit of a late start but in the end they were great. I recommend this for coming years.

Did you know Willard is going to be in a TV series? Or at least parts are, and to be more exact its South Willard. A few weeks ago, Anderson Livestock was coming to life on the cameras. Just what am I talking about, we had a visit from the film crew that films Yellowstone, they spent about 5 days hauling in trucks and supplies, food and of course the actors. It was all day filming on Monday and pack up and was out of here by dark. Being I live down by the auction yard we were able to go down and watch, we counted 5 film crews. All filming different parts at different times, we did get to see a few of the actors. This will be fun to watch next year and see what landmarks we can pick out, about 90% of the tv series is filmed in Utah most in the Ogden Valley area, 25th street and now we can add Anderson Auction yard.

DOMINION ENERGY GAS LINE The gas line is now at the north end of Willard. We urge residents to be prepared for delays. Do not turn in between the barrels as you may end up in the trench. NO LEFT TURN means NO left turn. There were many accidents in Perry because people failed to obey the NO LEFT extremely careful when making U-turns on Highway 89.  Be alert and prepared to stop especially around the fruit and vegetable stands. As always slooow down and keep the worker’s safe.

The Tour of Utah ran through Willard last week, WOW did they fly. There was Pizza, and snacks along with noise makers. Thanks for coming out to cheer.

WATER TANK PROJECT The new water tank project is underway. Due to the nature of the project we ask residents to be prepared for temporary water shutoffs, water shutoffs that may affect parts or all of the City. Keep water available just in case!

West Nile Virus Alert!

Please share this message with anyone you know that is planning on attending the Box Elder County Fair. It is not uncommon to have West Nile virus in the county during fair time, but we are putting out this notice as a reminder to take precautions.

The Box Elder Mosquito Abatement District was recently informed by the Utah State Public Health Laboratory that a mosquito pool (sample) tested positive for West Nile virus in the county. This sample was from the 11600 West and 8000 North area of Penrose. This is the first positive pool in Box Elder County this year. The virus has only been confirmed in Penrose, but it is possible that the virus could be more widespread at this point. We are announcing this to make the county aware that West Nile virus season has started.

With the Box Elder County Fair this week, please take proper precautions if you are outside after dusk. Be sure to wear long sleeve shirts and pants. Mosquito Repellent with DEET or Picaridin is also a great way to avoid mosquito bites. Please share this message with your friends and family to keep them safe this week at the Box Elder County Fair. Like our page for future mosquito/West Nile updates.
