Time for Spring Cleaning City Wide Clean Up, which will be held from April 30-May 8, 2016. Dumpsters will be located in the parking lot between the City Hall and the fire station. There will be a trailer for metals and batteries and also an area for electronics. The dike area is undergoing construction for a new recreation area and dumping of tree limbs and burnable items will no longer be allowed. Please do not put them in the dumpsters. Alternatives are the green waste area in Brigham City or see information on individual burn permits below. The Box Elder County landfill also offers Pay Once on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturdays of every month for public NON-WEIGHABLE loads only. Call 435-744-2275 for hours and more information or go the Box Elder County website: www.boxeldercounty.org.

We have had many people on social media asking why they have seen Val Kotter & Sons out and about doing work when the City bought a truck for sewer maintenance. One of the requirements of maintaining a sewer system is periodic cleaning and having video taken of the insides of the collection lines to detect any blockages, groundwater infiltration or other issues. This has been contracted with Val Kotter & Sons. Some of the main lines run behind houses. They will notify homeowners when they will be accessing the manholes. If you have any questions, contact the City Office at 435-734-9881.

4th of July volunteers are needed to help plan, prepare, and help during the 4th of July annual celebration. Council Member Profaizer has some new ideas and is calling for volunteers. Contact the City Office at 435-734-9881 or by email at: willardcity@comcast.net to volunteer for the committee.

Burn Permits - NO BURN PERMITS WILL BE ISSUED UNLESS THE CLEARING INDEX IS ABOVE 500 for Airshed 4. Links to check the index are available at: www.willardcity.com. The Division of Air Quality regulates this, not the County Fire Marshal. If the Burn Index is not above 500 on the day you want to burn, do not call for a burn permit.

Paper Recycling -Green Fiber will no longer be servicing our area. The bins have been removed, so please do not put paper recycling into the 2 city dumpsters. Green Fiber placed the recycling bins in Willard City at no cost to the City and paid a small fee to Willard for the tonnage they collected. We are looking into other alternatives. Please contact us if you have a suggestion of another company that might be interested in placing bins by the City Hall for the collection of cardboard and paper. This has been great for the environment and has helped to keep our landfill fees down as well.
