Have you ever heard of a “Butter Bouncer” or ridden on a “Cow train?” How about choosing your OWN scare adventure in a haunted corn maze? Things are only getting stranger, creepier and exciting as Halloween approaches!

So, if you like the sound of those autumn ideas, come on out to Gibson’s Green Acres Dairy, Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze!  There, you’ll find the Butter Bouncer—a 70x30 ft. bouncy house without walls where you can grab all your friends and jump! You can climb the mongo tall haybale slides (5ft. higher this year) and come sailing down! There’s a new cow train on the farm, too! Complete with enough room for 6 eager drivers and one trusty engineer!

Gibson’s Green Acres is into its 2nd year as a Fall family destination, but it’s 6 generations deep as a family-owned dairy farm.  The Gibson family has a strong love for dairy farming and they want to continue this way of life on down to the 7th, 8th, and 9th generations—and beyond.  In order to do that, Gibson’s Green Acres needed to diversify.  According to Andrea Gibson, wife of Ron Gibson (a 6th Generation farmer), “We want to offer experiences with agriculture to families and give a history of the farm.”

Andrea is excited about the community learning the farming way of life and how it impacts lives for the better. Plus, she’s pretty happy about the new attractions they have this year.  In addition to the Butter Bouncer and cow train, there are colorful tractor tires for children to play on.  Food trucks come every Friday, and let me just say---the foot-long crispy corn dogs are about the best thing ever!

“Life is Better on the Farm” is a motto Andrea likes to share and indeed it is!  When I took my own kids there on opening night, Sept. 22nd, we had a ball picking out our own pumpkins from the giant pumpkin patch, petting the horses, rabbits and goats in the petting zoo. There are more animals to visit, but you’ll have to come see for yourself who else is there! We also enjoyed the giant slippery slides and of course the haunted maze was something my 9-year-old just couldn’t wait for!

The last two years Andrea has hired Diana Knightfrom West Warren to create and manage the haunted corn maze.  In other words, she is the stage manager, prop maker extraordinaire and loves Halloween with a passion!  She’s the right woman for the job!

Knight was the genus behind the “Choose your Own Scare Adventure” and has come up with two scary mazes for the Haunted Maze which runs on Friday and Saturday nights beginning at 8 p.m.

You may choose from the Salem Witch Trials or the Alien Adventure!  IF YOU DARE!  You might find an unknown spaceship or witches burning at the stake—Choose Your Fate!  It could be bone-chilling!

Of course, if you’d rather NOT be enthralled by UFO’s, aliens or haunted witches you can always enjoy a corn maze without getting scared and walk through the non-haunted one next door.  Plus, there’s a Nursery Rhyme Hay Maze for the younger folks and duck races across the way.  Don’t forget about the wagon ride behind the tractor as “Farmer Ron” tells all about the Dairy Farm and takes you on a behind-the-scenes-tour. Very fascinating!

With 60 employees this season, Gibson’s Green Acres is sure to meet your entertainment needs this fall. My daughter has loved being a part of the crew this year!

Come enjoy the atmosphere of what it’s like to be on a Dairy Farm and at the same time take yourself out for some curly fries or deep-fried Oreos.  You’ll never know what you’re missing unless you come on out!  Be sure to bring your friends and family!
